okay so, last night i went to a lecture by glen keane, my favorite animator and my role model. it was one of the best experiences of my life. the end.
okay no i have to say a little more than that. his lecture was amazing and inspiring (and I took SO MANY NOTES) and seeing drawings and animation from him i’ve never seen before was fantastic
and then in his Q&A I asked him about “dark rapunzel” and he SAID SOME STUFF THAT I DON’T KNOW IF I’M ALLOWED TO POST HERE BECAUSE HE MADE A JOKE ABOUT HAVING TO KILL EVERYONE IN THE ROOM FOR SECRECY REASONS
after I was the very last one to get something signed/drawn (the head of the animation department let me go up after I told him i was an accepted student. PERKS.)
and i talked to glen as he doodled and thanked him and fangirled a lot. the french phrase there was the motto/theme of his version of tangled, the dark one. and god, that film would have been unspeakably amazing.
so yes: it was wonderful. if you ever get the chance to see Glen talk, DO NOT MISS IT.

Wait, what’s “dark Rapunzel?”

The version of the film with Bastion (the adorable bear-like one), the basset hound, the more Victorian Gothel. According to Glen it was a lot darker in tone and Gothel was much much worse as a villain. I referred to it as “dark Rapunzel” in my question due to the darker color schemes and ominous story boards (like the one where Rapunzel takes a bath) that were released online.

Oh that sounds really cool, and I’m sure that that version would be alluring and enticing and astounding! I wish it was real too, although I will always love Flynn more than Bastion,even though he seems nice. I just think he fits Rapunzel better and their chemistry is heart stopping, anyway thanks for the explanation :)
